Alyssa Kim is a professional violinist and violist based in New York City whose career spans musical theater, classical performances, and viral online content. Her work has taken her all over the globe, from playing her own solo arrangement of the National Anthem for the New York Mets at Citi Field, to touring Northern Italy with the Oxford University Orchestra, to collaborating with the Piano Guys at the National Theatre in Washington D.C.

 

An active Broadway musician, Alyssa is currently a substitute violinist for the Tony Award-winning musicals, Maybe Happy Ending and The Lost Boys. She was a chairholder for the Off-Broadway productions of Contradiction of the Southern Soul (2026, violin) and Love & Other Life Sentences (2026, violin/viola), and has played in fifteen total productions with the College Light Opera Company, Columbia Musical Theater Society, and Oxford University Drama Society.

 

Alyssa has performed at world-class venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Teatro Ponchielli, Basilica di S. Maria Maggiore, Auditorium Paganini, and The Public Theater. She is a winner of several competitions, awards, and scholarships such as the James C. MacDonald Performing Arts Scholarship, the U.S. Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition, the Young Musicians Inspiring Change International Competition, and the Great Composers International Competition.​ Additionally, she was accepted into many distinguished summer programs such as the Boston Tanglewood Institute, the Summer Music Institute with the NSO, the Cleveland Institute of Music Violin Intensive, and the Philadelphia International Music Festival.

 

With over 6 million views and 20,000+ followers across TikTok and Instagram, Alyssa loves to share her string arrangements and covers online while experimenting with diverse musical styles like pop, jazz, and folk. Her videos have been recognized by acclaimed artists like Laufey, Tori Kelly, JVKE, and John Michael Howell.

Alyssa graduated magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University with a degree in Music and Computer Science. There, she studied classical violin with Richard Rood and jazz violin with Victor Lin. Alyssa is also a founder and violinist of the Crown Quartet, performing for audiences of over 30,000 at Columbia University’s 2023 and 2025 Commencement Ceremonies and the Inauguration of the University’s 20th President.
